VIDEO: SINGLE HANDED PARAGLIDER LAUNCH

I filmed this one-armed man launching his paraglider in Pacifica, California.

PARAGLIDING AT THE POINT

PARAGLIDING AT THE POINT

I filmed this in Pacifica, California, around July, 2010.

Special thanks to THE STIMULANTS, for the awesome musical accompaniment!

JIM AND ME

When I was a kid I thought I was the reincarnation of Jim Morrison...until later I realized he died after I was born....

HOMELESS AGAIN

I am going to be homeless again. Actually looking forward to the freedom of being on the road. I surrender to whatever the universe has in store for me. Hope to see you all soon!

PARACHUTE JUMP FROM A PARAGLIDER (VIDEO)

PARACHUTE JUMP FROM A PARAGLIDER
I was in Pacifica, California not long ago and I was lucky to catch this skydiver jumping from a paraglider.

This is an ideal site, for paragliding. The best time is in June, July and August, when steady laminar winds come out of the Pacific from the west.

DREAM OF ARMAGEDDON IN SANTA FE

DREAM OF ARMAGEDDON IN SANTA FE
I was in Santa Fe, near the outskirts of town on West Alameda Avenue, and there were huge ship-like things, bigger than the buildings, floating around over the downtown area which was mostly on fire. I was trying to video tape the scene, but couldn't seem to get any clear images. The camera kept shaking around in spite of my attempts to hold it steady—the ground was shaking intermittently, apparently from the barrage of ray beams coming out of the colorful flying things. Strange, large cartoon-like objects were appearing in mid-air and sort of attacking people, including me. One was a giant crumpled burnt, ash-covered beer can, which kept smashing into me. It felt like the apocalypse or armageddon. Someone laughed and said all of this was my fault, because I wasn't a Christian and that I had better accept Jesus right now if I didn’t want to die! I told him he was full of crap and the Beer can attacked me again. It was so vivid that I thought it was real. I was very relieved when I woke up...

THE AGE OF ALONENESS

THE AGE OF ALONENESS

The age of the internet has become the age of aloneness. Here we all sit, alone, safe in our living-rooms, bedrooms, or wherever, with our computer screens shining in our faces. Although we don't speak to each other or see each other (well sometimes we do with our web-cams), we are sharing things we never shared with each other before. Sharing our favorite videos, songs, pictures and thoughts, in an endless stream that we can access whenever we want. As one friend of mine put it, we are "Cyber-Jamming" in a way we have never before experienced.

GHOST RIDERS HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Happy Halloween to all my faithful readers and friends. I always loved this song. It makes me thing of two friends of mine who played it for me while we were alone at home. My departed friend Adam Blum, would play it on his bass while I sang the lyrics I knew, and my other departed friend John Jordan, would play it on his guitar and we would sing it together. It will always be one of my favorite songs.

How You Gonna Come?

The next revolution will not be one of ideals. It will be a senseless revolt of the oppressed against the senseless oppression of the oppressors! It will not be an organized event, but instead a natural chain of cause and effect! When faced with certain doom people will do whatever it takes to stay alive, even if only for a few short hours. What else can one do when such is the meaning of life in general? I ask you now to tell me your own truth! Will you stand on the side of the oppressors, or stand by your brothers who want nothing more than the freedom to live their lives?

Photo By David Settino Scott III,

Will you fight for your unjustified comfort, or forgo your own pleasure to fight for the weak and the helpless? Will you take a stand with the establishment, or protect the humanity that is found in chaos? I have made my decision and will stand by it to the death. I would rather die fighting for my own humanity than accept the slow and painful death that our society has engineered for the masses.

How To Wake People Up

"You might think it strange if you saw the dead awaken, but any fool can do it with a skillet and some bacon."

I don't know who said it first, but I have found there is a lot of truth to that quote.

FIRE IN SAN BRUNO (VIDEO)

As I was driving home from work this evening, I started to hear the reports of this fire on the peninsula near San Francisco, in San Bruno, California.

This is an example of the negligence of Americans with regard to our own infrastructure, in favor of waging war in distant countries. As I watch, the Firefighters are mostly just standing around watching the destruction...I hate to say this, but some of these people deserve what happened to them--this is a pretty wealthy area and a lot of these people are the owners of the working class.

This is one reason why we need to bring our military home, stop waging war all over the world, and start taking care of things here at home!

ZOZOBRA BURNS IN SANTA FE NEW MEXICO (VIDEO)

Every year the people of Santa Fe, New Mexico, burn Zozobra. The ritual signifies the letting go of all of the years negative feelings. The 100 foot doll marionette, nicknamed Old Man Gloom, is stuffed full of things like divorce papers, and other stuff that brings up bad memories, and then they burn him.

I wish I could be there this year. I have had a lot of bad luck these past several years and I could certainly contribute to the ceremony.

OLD VIDEO OF LOS ANGELES

I love looking at old pictures and movies from days gone by. It is always interesting to me how little people change through the generations. Every film and photograph is it's own time capsule. This is where we came from, and although the methods of transportation have changed, commuters still look more or less the same to me. I hope you can appreciate this as much as I do...

Comments below are always appreciated.

KICKBOXING IN SAN FRANCISCO'S TENDERLOIN DISTRICT

Another two-rounder from a series of fights I filmed in San Francisco's Tenderloin District. Both of these fighters fought with dignity and honor. It was interesting to see the dynamics between them, since one was so tall and the other so much shorter. You decide who won...

DAVE IN FLIGHT (VIDEO)

I have been having a great time flying my old Challenger paraglider in Pacifica, California, lately.

Special thanks to THE MANATEES for the great music!

(VIDEO) PARAGLIDING AT THE POINT

I had a great time paragliding today. The last time I flew was in Bali, back in 1996. Today, I pulled my dusty old Challenger out of it's bag at the paraglider launch in Pacifica, California. I was just planning to kite around on the ground a little and get used to my equipment again, but the conditions were so good I couldn't help myself, and I went ahead and got a few short flights in.

Now that I know the site a little better and have had the benefit of talking to the local pilots about it, I think I will go and make a good day of it next time. I hope you like the music too; the rocking all-girl band, THE STIMULANTS, provided some rocking music to go along with these great images.

Oh, by the way, if you are looking for some cool radio controlled aircraft, these guys have an excellent selection and some great deals!

Saint Patrick's Day Parade In San Francisco

I got some great footage of San Francisco's, St. Patrick's Day Parade, while roaming around the city today. I especially enjoyed the great energy of the Humboldt State University Marching Band--this small group of kids from Humboldt County really showed talent and personality. Sorry I couldn't get them on this tape, because Youtube only gives me ten minutes, but I will put up part 2 as soon as I can.  Enjoy the bagpipes, though!

Fight in the Tenderloin

So I was walking around in San Francisco's Tenderloin district when I noticed this guy in his car, arguing with one of the guys on the road-working crew. The guy in the car pulled into the alley just ahead of me and I could tell they were about to fight, so I pulled out my camera and ran around the corner to film it. This is what I saw. I can't be sure but it looks like the black guy pulled out a knife! Look at the video and tell me what you think...

KOFY TV Guest-Host Contest

I entered this contest to be a guest-host for KOFY Television, a local San Francisco channel. In Memory Of Bear

I just found out through facebook that a childhood friend of mine, Bear Loranger, died very suddenly yesterday. At first I didn't believe it, because I had heard a false rumor that he had died some years earlier--someone told me he had been bitten and killed  while farming rattlesnakes. However, after awhile the reports started to come in and I realized this time it must be true.

Bear and I weren't as close as I would have liked. I only learned his last name today. We shared many mutual friends and partied together often, but we largely ran in different circles. Nevertheless, when we did see each other there was always a strong feeling of camaraderie and affection between us. Later in life, I would often see him at the community college. He was studying culinary arts and I was studying law, so we didn't share any classes, but we would often stop and chat when passing each other in the halls. I sensed that somehow he and I had more in common than just growing up in the same town.

I don't have a picture of Bear, but this photo reminds me of his kind spirit.

I am so glad to have known you, Bear. You lived on the edge and your light was bright and strong. I wish we had more time to spend together. Sail on, dear friend...the rest of us are close behind.

2010 A Spike Odyssey, Part II

Sorry it took me so long to get Part II up. I have learned that working with video and sound files can be extremely time consuming. Nevertheless, here it is at last. Special thanks to Sattva Ananda for his musical arrangements.

Affiliate Program Pays Off!

Most of you know that I have been trying for a long time to figure out how to make a decent income on the web with my computer. Over the last year and a half I have tried all kinds of different affiliate marketing programs and web-hosting platforms, but met with little success. It was easy to make a small stream of income, but nothing really significant enough to speak of.

Well, recently I tried a new program with a web-hosting company called Site Build It! After only a few days of using their program I was blown away when I logged into my account to see a balance of $78. These guys make everything really easy! This video kind of sums up my experience with SBI so far!
